Tim Rakel and Melinda Cooper have both been playing music around Saint Louis for the last ten years. Rakel was the songwriter and frontman for Bad Folk and currently composes for and fronts The May Day Orchestra. Cooper co-founded A Bit Shifty with Brad Vaughn and also plays guitar in Celia’s Big Rock Band.
Rakel and Cooper (aka Tim Rakehell and Malice Cooper) have been playing together as members of The Union Electric since 2009. The Union Electric has shared bills with a variety of national artists including Dax Riggs, Arrington De Dionyso, Murder By Death, and Chumbawamba's Danbert Nobacon. They have toured with The Fervor and Robert Sarazin Blake. The group has also released three vinyl singles and is currently finishing a full-length recording for release later this year.
